DTC P15A8 (88): W Phase Motor Current Sensor Circuit Malfunction

General Description
The motor control module (MCM) controls motor output based on the motor current sensor signals.

When the motor current sensor breaks down and the output voltage drifts, there is a possibility that the motor output torque can not be controlled properly.

When the output voltage of the W phase motor current sensor is out of the specified value when the sensor input current is 0 A, the MCM detects a malfunction of the motor current sensor and a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
The sensor output voltage, when the W phase motor current sensor is 0 A, is 2.35 V or less, or 2.65 V or more, for at least 0.5 seconds.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the PCM and MCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.

The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
