Condenser Fan: Testing and Inspection

Radiator Fan High Speed Circuit Troubleshooting

1. Remove the cooling fan control relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box and test it.

Is the relay OK?

YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Replace the cooling fan control relay.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Measure the voltage between cooling fan control relay 5P socket terminal No.5 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?

YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.

4. Check for continuity between the cooling fan control relay 5P socket terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair open in the wire between the cooling fan control relay 5P socket terminal No. 3 and powertrain control module (PCM) connector terminal A5. If the wire is OK, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM and under-hood fuse/relay box.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the cooling fan control relay 5P socket terminal No. 2 and body ground (G301). If the wire is OK, check for poor ground at G301.
