DTC B1176: Fuel Gauge Unit (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Short1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
3. Wait more than 30 seconds.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Intermittent failure, the fuel level sensor circuit is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
6. Disconnect the fuel tank unit 4P connector.
7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
8. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
9. Wait more than 30 seconds.
10. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
NOTE: If DTC B1175 is indicated after the fuel tank unit 4P connector is disconnected, the fuel gauge sending unit is faulty.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES - Go to step 11.
NO - Replace the fuel gauge sending unit.
11. Disconnect gauge control module connector A (20P).
12. Check for continuity between gauge control module connector A (20P) No. 18 terminal and body ground.
Are there continuity?
YES - Repair a short in the wire between the gauge control module and the fuel tank unit.
NO - Replace the gauge control module.
