Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc: Description and Operation
System DescriptionOverview
The Audio Unit acts as the processor for all audio functions. Select audio functions from the front panel. The audio display provides the current audio status. (See the owner's manual for more details.)
The audio unit has a built-in EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory). This memory holds the audio presets (AM/FM radio frequency, sound settings, etc.) even when the battery is disconnected.
It also has a built-in diagnostic function that displays system failures on the LCD display.
The system includes speed-sensitive volume compensation (SVC). This function adjusts the audio system automatically in proportion to the vehicle speed. The volume gain can be adjusted in three stages.
A security signal is daisy-chained between the audio and vehicle components, and are integrated into the vehicle's alarm system.
