Rattle from the Front of the Vehicle

PROBLEM





A ridge on the upper left corner of the front bumper contacts the fender, causing the bumper to rattle when driving.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Install a plastic washer (made from a trim clip) between the bumper and the fender.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Remove the 5 x 20 mm screw near the left edge of the bumper.

2. Gently pull the upper corner of the bumper cover to detach it from the fender panel.

3. Make a plastic washer from a trim clip:

^ Remove the screw from the trim clip.





^ Using a utility knife, cut the head side off of the trim clip.





^ File down any burrs or excess material so the washer is smooth.

4. Reinstall the bumper cover with the washer.





^ Place the washer over the screw hole with the cut and filed side facing down. It should sit in the recessed area on the bumper cover.

^ Push the bumper cover inwards and slightly up. Make sure the washer does not come out of position.

^ Reinstall the screw, making sure it goes through the center of the washer.
