Manual Transmission Installation
Special Tools Required
- 1.8 Support eyelet 07AAK-SNAA400
- 1.8 Support bolt 07AAK-SNAA500
- Engine support hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256*
- Front subframe adapter VSB02C000016*
2006 Civic engine hanger VSB02C000025*
* These special tools are available through the Honda Tool and Equipment program.
NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
1. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
2. Make sure the two dowel pins (A) are installed in the clutch housing.
3. Check the release bearing, and reinstall the release bearing and the release fork with appropriate grease. Service and Repair
4. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to the engine level.
5. Align the transmission mainshaft and the clutch pressure plate, then move the transmission inward until there is no clearance between the transmission housing and the engine block.
6. Install the lower transmission mounting bolts.

7. Install the clutch cover.
8. Install the intermediate shaft. Intermediate Shaft Installation
9. Install the driveshaft inboard joint. Driveshaft Installation
10. Support the front subframe with the front subframe adapter and a jack.
11. Install the front subframe (A). Loosely install new subframe mounting bolts (B).
12. Align the front subframe reference marks (A) to the body (B), as noted during removal. Tighten the subframe mounting bolts to the specified torque.
13. Install the lower torque rod mounting bolts.
14. Install the middle subframe mounting bolts.
15. Install the steering gearbox stiffener plates (A) and the mounting bracket (B). Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
16. Install the steering line brackets (A), and install the steering line to the clip (B).
17. Connect the lower arm. Driveshaft Installation
18. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
19. Install the transmission mounting bracket base (A) and the stud bolts (B).
20. Install the transmission mounting bracket bolts (A). Install the transmission mounting bolt (B) and nuts (C), then install the ground cable (D).
21. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
22. Loosen and retighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
23. Refill the transmission with MTF. MTF Inspection and Replacement
24. Install the splash shield.
25. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
26. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
27. Install the upper transmission mounting bolts.
28. Remove the engine hanger and the support eyelet (A) from the engine.
29. Install the air cleaner housing bracket (B) on the cylinder head.
30. Connect the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector (A).
31. Apply a light coat of silicone grease (P/N 08C30-B0234M) to the shift cable ends (A).
NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connector and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.
32. Install the shift cable bracket (B) and the shift cables (C), then install new cotter pins (D) or the lock pins (E).

'07-09 models
33. Connect the back-up light switch connector (A), then install the engine harness cover (B) and the harness clips (C).
34. Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the end of the slave cylinder pushrod. Install the slave cylinder (A), then install the clutch line bracket (B). Be careful not to bend the clutch line.
35. Install the battery base (A) with the coolant reservoir (B).
36. Install the harness clips (C) and the intake air duct (D).
37. Install the air cleaner assembly. Service and Repair
38. Do the battery installation procedure. Removal and Replacement
39. Install the under-cowl panel and the cowl cover. Service and Repair
40. Check the change lever and the clutch operation.
41. Check the wheel alignment. Service and Repair
42. Test-drive the vehicle.
