VSA DTC Troubleshooting: 65

DTC 65: Brake Fluid Level

1. Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.

Is brake fluid level OK?
YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Inspect the brake pads: Front, Front Brake Pad Inspection and Replacement rear, Rear Brake Pad Inspection and Replacement and replace worn out brake pads, then recheck.


2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch 2P connector.

6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

7. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC 65 indicated?
YES - Go to step 8.

NO - Replace the reservoir (brake fluid level switch is included) on the master cylinder. Service and Repair


8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 47P connector. Service and Repair

10. Disconnect gauge assembly connector B (30P).

11. Check for continuity between brake fluid level switch 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to body ground in the wire between the gauge assembly or the VSA modulator-control unit and the brake fluid level switch.

NO - Check for loose terminals in the VSA modulator-control unit 47P connector. If necessary, substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit, Service and Repair and retest.
