DTC P0606: Engine Control Module (ECM) Processor Malfunction







General Description
If something is wrong in the engine control module (ECM), and the monitor signal from the digital knock system CPU is not received for a set time, or a signal communication error remains for a set time, the ECM detects a malfunction and a DTC is stored.

Enable Conditions







Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions must be met for at least 5 seconds.

- No signal from the digital knock system CPU is detected.
- Signal from the digital knock system CPU is detected to be abnormal.

Driving Pattern
Start the engine, let it idle for at least 30 seconds or hold the engine speed to at least 1,000 rpm.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for illuminating the MIL
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and the DTC and the freeze frame data are stored in the ECM memory.

Conditions for clearing the MIL
The MIL will be cleared if the malfunction does not recur during three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs.
The MIL, the DTC, and the freeze frame data can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
