Engine Installation




Engine Installation

Special Tools Required

- Universal lifting eyelet 07AAK-SNAA120
1. Install the engine mount bracket and the accessory brackets, and tighten their bolts to the specified torque.

2. Install the engine into position in the vehicle.
NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts and the support nuts in the sequence given. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.






3. Install the right side engine mount bracket, then tighten the bolts and nut in the numbered sequence shown.






4. Tighten the support nut on the left side engine mount bracket.






5. Install the A/C compressor, then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector. Service and Repair

6. Remove the chain hoist and the universal lifting eyelets.

7. Connect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose.

'06-09 models





8. '00-05 models: Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A), the fuel return hose (B) and the fuel feed hose (C), using new washers (D).

'04-05 models





9. '06-09 models: Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) and the fuel feed hose (B), then install the quick-connect fitting cover (C).






10. '06-09 models: Install the intake manifold cover.






11. Connect the upper radiator hose.






12. Connect the heater hoses (A) and the lower radiator hose (B).

13. Raise the vehicle on the lift.






14. Install the engine stop bracket (A), then install the engine stop bracket cushion (B).

15. Lower the vehicle on the lift.






16. Push the engine control module (ECM) connectors through the bulkhead, then install the grommet (A).

17. Connect the battery cable (B) on the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box. Install the ground cable (C) and the harness clamps (D).

18. Install the harness clamps (A), then connect the battery cable (B) on the main under-hood fuse/relay box.






19. Install the electrical power steering (EPS) control unit.






20. '00-05 models: Install the vacuum tank.

21. '00-05 models: Install the throttle cable, then adjust the cable.






22. Connect the ECM connectors (A) and the dashboard wire harness A connectors (B).

24. Do the battery installation procedure. Removal and Replacement

25. Inspect for fuel leaks. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) (do not operate the starter) so that the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds and pressurizes the fuel line. Repeat this operation three times, then check for fuel leakage at any point in the fuel line.

26. Refill the engine with the recommended engine oil. Service and Repair

27. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system with the heater valve open. Service and Repair

28. Check that the transmission shifts into gears smoothly.

31. '06-09 models: Do the crankshaft position (CKP) pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

32. Inspect the idle speed:
- '00-05 models

- '06-09 models Testing and Inspection

33. Inspect the ignition timing. Testing and Inspection
