REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:
^ Before you begin, make sure you know the SRS component locations, and that you read and understand the SRS precautions and procedures explained in the service manual.
^ Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing parts.
^ All repair steps are for both the Accord and the Pilot, unless otherwise noted.
^ This procedure is in an outline form that you can also use as a checklist for the repair. If you need more details on the item below, bookmark it in the 2008-2010 Accord Service Manual, or the 2009-2011 Pilot Service Manual, or view it online.
- Battery Disconnection/Reconnection
1. Adjust the steering wheel all the way up and all the way in.
2. Remove the driver's head restraint.
3. If equipped, carefully pry up the anchor cover at the pry point using the appropriate trim tool to release the hooks and tab, then remove the cover by pulling it upward.
4. Lower the driver's seat to its lowest position, and move it all the way forward.
5. Remove the seat belt lower anchor bolt.
6. Adjust the driver's seat to its highest position, and tilt the seatback all the way forward.
7. Remove the seat track end covers from the back of both driver's seat tracks.
8. Remove the rear mounting bolts from the driver's seat.
9. Move the driver's seat back, remove the track end covers (if equipped), then remove the front mounting bolts from the seat.
10. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before continuing.
11. Lift up the front of the seat, then detach the harness and motor clips. Disconnect the floor wire harness connector, the side airbag connector, the slide motor connector, and the seat belt buckle switch connector.
12. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the driver's seat.
13. Remove the driver's seat front/center cover.
14. Pilot only: Remove the center cover, and the left and right recline covers.
15. Pilot only: Disconnect and remove the navigation unit and its bracket from the seat frame.
16. Pilot only: Remove the inner and outer foot covers.
17. Pilot only: Remove the seat belt buckle center anchor bolt to allow the anchor to pivot enough to raise the tab, then remove the inner height cover.
18. Remove the seat rails from the seat.
19. Lay the new seat track on a clean, flat surface, and measure the width between the left and right seat rails, front and rear, as shown. The width should be about 425 mm (16.7 in). If the rails are out of alignment the seat track will not install properly on the seat frame. Adjust to specification if needed.
20. Bolt the new seat track onto the vehicle floor, but do not torque the bolts.
21. Install the new thread-forming flange bolts into the seat track leaving a 3 mm gap from the base of the bolt head. (Do not torque the bolts all the way down.) Do not use air or electric tools.
22. Remove the thread-forming bolts from the seat rails, then remove the seat track from the vehicle.
23. Install the new seat track onto the seat, and torque the new seat rail nuts and thread-forming bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb-ft).
24. Pilot only: Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the seat belt buckle center anchor bolt, then reinstall the bolt and torque it to 32 N.m (24 lb-ft),
25. Reinstall all removed items onto the seat (covers, navigation unit etc., except for the track end covers).
26. With the help of an assistant, carefully place the seat into the vehicle, without installing the bolts yet.
27. Lift up the front of the seat, then reattach the floor harness wire connector, the side airbag connector, the power lumbar support switch connector, the motor connector, the navigation control unit connector (if equipped), and the seat belt buckle switch connector. Reattach the harness clips.
28. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
29. Install the seat mounting bolts, torque the Accord seat mounting bolts to 41 N.m (30 lb-ft), torque the Pilot seat mounting bolts to 47 N.m (35 lb-ft).
30. Install the front (Pilot) and rear track end covers.
31. Reinstall the head restraint.
32. Pilot only: Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the lower seat belt anchor bolt.
33. Reinstall the seat belt lower anchor bolt, and torque it to 32 N.m (24 lb-ft).
34. Reinstall the anchor cover (if equipped).
35. Verify that the driver's seat operates smoothly and makes no noise when moving forward or backward.
36. Clear any DTCs that may have been set during your repair.
