REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:
To program the new keyless remote module using the HDS, you need these items:

^ The customer's programmed ignition key that has the bad keyless remote.

^ First password. (This five-character code is available on the iN. Go to SERVICE, select Vehicle Information from the left column, then select Immobilizer Code Inquiry.)

^ HDS with software 2.019.009 or later.

NOTE:
Make sure the market, the date, and the time on the HDS setup screen are correct. Select the F12 key in the upper right corner to get the Set-up Details screen. Make sure Market is set to USA. Select the time display in the lower right corner to get the Date / Time Properties pop-up window. Make sure the date and time are correct. For details, refer to the HDS Set-up Instructions, listed under Tool Information in ISIS.

1. Using a # 0 Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw from the transmitter. Remove the back cover, then use a small piece of tape to hold the module temporarily in place during the programming steps.

2. Connect the HDS to the DLC (data link connector).

3. Insert the customer's programmed ignition key into the ignition switch, and turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Turn on the HDS.

4. At the screen prompts, enter the VIN and the odometer reading, then verify the correct date and time.

5. From the System Selection Menu screen, select IMMOBI.

6. From the Immobilizer Test Mode Menu screen, select Immobilizer Setup.

7. From the Immobilizer Test Mode Menu screen, select Add and Delete Keys.

8. From the Add and Delete Keys screen, select Add 1 Key.

9. From the Add 1 Key screen, select Begin to Add 1 Key.

10. From the first password screen, enter the first password, then follow the screen prompts.

NOTE:
When you reach the step that asks you to install the new key, you must exchange the old and new keyless modules and turn the ignition switch to ON (II) within 17 seconds. If you don't do this within 17 seconds, you will need to redo the entire procedure.

11. Start the vehicle, and make sure the immobilizer indicator goes out and the engine keeps running. Remove the key from the ignition switch, and make sure the keyless remote door lock functions are working.

12. For a Pilot Touring Model with a Driver 1 and Driver 2 key, do the registration according to the instructions on the HDS screen for both keyless remote modules.

13. Replace the back cover on the key.
