MIL Comes On With DTC P0300 Thru P0304

REVISION SUMMARY

SYMPTOM
One or more spark plugs may be fouled, and the MIL comes on with at least one of these DTCs: P0300 (random cylinder misfire detected), P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304 (No. 1 thru No. 4 cylinder misfire detected).
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the PCM, and replace any fouled spark plugs.

SOFTWARE INFORMATION
HDS Software Version:
2.024.009 or later.
HDS Control Module (CM) Update:
Database Update 29-NOV-2010 or later.
NOTE:
To avoid an incorrect repair that would not be covered under warranty, use the software version listed above or a later version.
The updated PGM-FI software program IDs and P/Ns are listed below. If the HDS or MVCI is loaded with the latest software, and it displays No Update Needed during the update, the software for this service bulletin is already installed.

DIAGNOSIS
Inspect the Freeze Data or On Board Snapshot data using the HDS for DTCs P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304, and inspect the spark plugs in cylinders 1 thru 4 for carbon buildup.
Is at least one of the listed DTCs present, and is at least one spark plug fouled?
Yes - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
No - This service bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Replace any fouled spark plugs. Torque the plugs to 22 N.m (16 lb-ft).
2. Update the PGM-FI software. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-023, Updating Control Units/Modules.
