Advanced Diagnostics - DTC P0183: Fuel Temperature Sensor Circuit High VoltageGeneral Description
The fuel temperature sensor is located on the fuel rail and detects the temperature of the fuel. This signal is used to adjust the fuel injector duration according to the fuel temperature. The sensor resistance varies with the fuel temperature sensed by the thermistor. As the fuel temperature falls, the sensor resistance increases, resulting in an increase of sensor output voltage. As the fuel temperature rises, the sensor resistance decreases, resulting in a decrease of sensor output voltage. If the fuel temperature sensor output voltage is excessively high, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

The fuel temperature sensor output voltage is 4.92 V or more for at least 2.0 seconds.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
