P1188
Advanced Diagnostics - DTC P1188: Fuel Tank Temperature (FTT) Sensor Circuit High VoltageGeneral Description
The fuel tank temperature (FTT) sensor is located on the fuel joint block and detects the temperature of the fuel. This signal is used to calculate injector duration. The sensor resistance varies depending on the fuel temperature sensed by its thermistor. As the fuel temperature falls, the sensor resistance increases, resulting in an increase of sensor output voltage. As the fuel temperature rises, the sensor resistance decreases, resulting in a decrease of sensor output voltage. If the FTT sensor output voltage is excessively high, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The FTT sensor output voltage is 4.92 V or more for at least 2.0 seconds.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
