DTC Troubleshooting: B1175
DTC B1175:
Fuel Level Sensor (Fuel Gauge Sending Unit) Circuit Malfunction
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back ON (II).
3. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTCs B1175 indicated?
YES -
- 2WD: Go to step 5.
- 4WD: Go to step 10.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections between the gauge control module and the fuel tank unit.�
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect the fuel tank unit 4P connector.
7. Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
8. Check for continuity between gauge control module 32P connector terminals No. 21 and No. 22 and fuel tank unit 4P connector terminals No. 4 and No. 2 respectively.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire(s).�
9. Do the fuel gauge sending unit test Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test.
Is the fuel gauge sending unit OK?
YES -
Replace the gauge control module Gauge Control Module Replacement.�
NO -
Replace fuel gauge sending unit Fuel Pump/Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Replacement.�
10. Disconnect the fuel tank unit 4P connector and disconnect the secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector.
11. Check for continuity between fuel tank unit 4P connector terminal No. 4 and secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector terminal No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 12.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
12. Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
13. Check for continuity between gauge control module 32P connector terminal No. 21 and secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector terminal No. 4.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 14.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
14. Check for continuity between gauge control module 32P connector terminal No. 22 and fuel tank unit 4P connector terminal No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 15.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
15. Do the fuel gauge sending unit test Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test.
Is the fuel tank unit OK?
YES -
Go to step 16.
NO -
Replace fuel gauge sending unit Fuel Pump/Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Replacement.�
16. Do the secondary fuel gauge sending unit test Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test.
Is the secondary fuel gauge sending unit OK?
YES -
Replace the gauge control module Gauge Control Module Replacement.�
NO -
Replace the secondary gauge sending unit Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Removal And Installation.�
