Engine Installation

Special Tools Required

- Engine Hanger Balance Bar VSB02C000019
- 2008 V6 Attachment Arm SIL02C000033
- Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256
- Subframe Adapter VSB02C000016

1. Install the engine mount brackets and the accessory brackets, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.






2. Replace the upper transmission mount stud bolt (A).






3. Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist (A) and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.

NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.






4. Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with several spacers (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033). Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with a spacer (D) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E).





5. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.

NOTE:

- Be careful when working around the windshield.
- Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.
- AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking additional cross section bar.

6. Install the new side engine mount bracket mounting bolts (A) into the upper half of the side engine mount bracket. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.






7. Tighten the new upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts/nut (A) to the specified torque, then install the harness bracket (B).






8. Install the ground cable.






9. Remove the chain hoist, then raise the vehicle on the lift.

10. Using the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) and a transmission jack, raise the front subframe up to the body.





11. Loosely install the new front subframe mounting bolts (four) (A), the new 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (two) (B), the bolts (two) (C), and the stiffeners (D).

12. Align the front subframe with the subframe alignment pin Service and Repair.

13. Remove the transmission jack and the subframe adapter.

14. Discard the subframe middle rubber mount bolts (A), then tighten the new bolts to the specified torque on both sides.






15. Install the lower transmission mount nuts.






16. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

17. Remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the 2008 V6 attachment arm.

18. Tighten the new front engine mount bolt (A), then install the new front engine mount stop mounting nuts (B), and connect the engine mount actuator connector (C), and install the connector (D) to the front subframe.






19. Tighten the new rear engine mount bolt (A), then install the new rear engine mount stop mounting nuts (B), and connect the engine mount actuator connector (C).






20. Loosen the mounting bolts for the upper half of the side engine mount bracket, then retighten them to the specified torque.






21. Loosen the mounting bolts and nut for the upper transmission mount bracket, then retighten them to the specified torque.






22. Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.





23. Install the harness holder and the connectors to the front cylinder head.

24. Install the harness bracket (A) to the rear cylinder head.





25. Connect the ATF cooler hoses to the transmission, and secure the hoses with the clips Service and Repair.

26. Install the A/C compressor (A), then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector (B).






27. Connect the heater hoses (A).





28. Install the radiator Radiator Replacement.

29. Raise the vehicle on the lift.

30. Install the harness clamps (A).






31. Connect the PSP switch connector (A).






32. Connect the power steering fluid hose (A), then secure the hose with the clamp (B).





33. 4WD: Install the transfer assembly Transfer Assembly Installation.

34. 4WD: Install the propeller shaft to the transfer companion flange Propeller Shaft Installation.

35. Install a new set ring on the end of each driveshaft, then install the driveshafts Front Driveshaft Installation. Make sure each ring "clicks" into place in the differential and the intermediate shaft.

36. Connect the suspension lower arms to the knuckles Ball Joint Removal.

37. Connect the tie-rod end ball joints to the knuckles.

38. Install the damper fork.

39. Install exhaust pipe A using new gaskets (B) and new self locking nuts (C).






40. Install the engine undercover.





41. Install the front wheels.

42. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

43. Install the shift cable Service and Repair.

44. Align the reference mark (A) on the steering joint and the steering gearbox pinion shaft. Connect the steering joint (B) to the steering gearbox pinion shaft (C). Loosely install the steering joint bolts.





45. Remove the steering wheel holder tool, then tighten the steering joint bolt.

46. Install the steering joint cover (D).

47. Install the power steering pump outlet line (A) and the power steering pump inlet line (B) to the power steering pump and install the power steering hose bracket (C).






48. Install the drive belt:

49. Connect the fuel feed hose (A), then install the quick-connect fitting cover (B):

50. Connect the EVAP canister hose (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).






51. Connect the engine wire harness connector (A), then install the harness clamps (B) and the bracket (C).






52. Install the driver's side front fender trim .

53. Connect the PCM connectors (A), then install the PCM with the bracket (B).






54. Connect the battery cables (A) to the under-hood fuse/ relay box.






55. Install the battery base (A), then install the harness clamp (B) and the bolt (C).






56. Install the air cleaner Service and Repair.

57. Install the front grille cover Front Grille Cover Replacement.

58. Install the splash separator.

59. Install the engine cover.

60. Install the strut brace Frame Brace Replacement.

61. Do the battery installation procedure.

62. Inspect for fuel leaks. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) (do not operate the starter) so the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds and pressurizes the fuel line. Repeat this operation three times, then check for fuel leakage at any point in the fuel line.

63. Refill the engine with engine oil Service and Repair.

64. Refill the transmission with ATF.

65. Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.

66. Refill the reservoir with power steering fluid.

67. Refill the radiator with engine coolant.

68. Do the power steering system bleeding procedure.

69. Do the cooling system bleeding procedure Service and Repair.

70. Check for fluid leaks.

71. Reinstall the driver's side hood support strut bracket (A) with the bolts to proper locations.






72. Reattach the passenger's side hood support strut on the pivot bolt Service and Repair.

73. Do the PCM reset procedure.

74. Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure.

75. Inspect the idle speed Testing and Inspection.

76. Inspect the ignition timing Testing and Inspection.

77. Check the wheel alignment Service and Repair.
