SRS Unit Replacement
NOTE: If replacing the SRS unit after an airbag or tensioner deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
Removal
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Remove the center console Service and Repair.
3. Remove the heater joint duct Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal/Installation.
4. Disconnect SRS unit connectors A (39P) and B (39P) from the SRS unit.
5. Remove the TORX bolts (C) using a TORX T30 bit, then pull out the SRS unit.
Installation
1. Install the SRS unit (A) with a new TORX bolts (B), then connect the connectors (C) to the SRS unit; push them into position until they click Service and Repair.
NOTE: Be sure the SRS unit is sitting squarely against its bracket before torquing the TORX bolts.
2. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.
3. Make sure the SRS unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the SRS unit SRS Unit Update.
4. Do the OPDS sensor initialization Programming and Relearning and front passenger's weight sensor initialization Programming and Relearning.
5. Do the ODS unit operation check ODS Unit Operation Check.
6. Confirm proper SRS operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II); the SRS indicator should come on for about 6 seconds and then go off.
7. Reinstall all removed parts.
