SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 82-12
DTC 82-12:
No Signal From the Inner Side Front Passenger's Weight Sensor (2-door)
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
1. Raise the front passenger's seat all the way up.
2. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 82-12 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.�
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 2P connector from the front passenger's weight sensor (inner side) Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Replacement (2-Door).
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
8. Measure the voltage between front passenger's seat wire harness 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be more than 6 V.
Is the voltage as specified?
YES -
Faulty front passenger's weight sensor (inner side); replace the inner side front passenger's weight sensor Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Replacement (2-Door), then clear the DTC.�
NO -
Short to power in the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the front passenger's seat wire harness, then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the ODS unit ODS Unit Replacement.�
