Key Interlock Solenoid Test (A/T)




Key Interlock Solenoid Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations, precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Remove the steering column covers Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the steering lock assembly 6P connector (A), and then turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).






3. Connect battery voltage to terminal No. 4 of the steering lock assembly, and ground terminal No. 3, then try turning the ignition switch to LOCK (0); the ignition switch should not turn.

4. Connect power to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 4, and ground steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK(0). Disconnect power and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK(0) position and removed from the cylinder.

5. If the key interlock solenoid does not work as specified, replace the steering lock assembly Service and Repair.
