DTC B1077 : Wiper Switch (As) Malfunction

NOTE: Refer to the Electrical Wiring Diagrams for the location of the under-dash fuse/relay box connectors.

1. Determine possible failure area (windshield wiper motor and its drive circuit, FR_WIPER_AS line):

Determine possible failure area (windshield wiper motor and its drive circuit, FR_WIPER_AS line)
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

-3. Turn the windshield wiper switch to LOW or HIGH for 15 seconds or more, then turn the switch OFF.

Does the wiper motor work?
-YES- FR_WIPER_AS line: go to step 2.
-NO- Windshield wiper motor and its drive circuit: go to step 5.

2. Problem verification (DTC):

Problem verification (DTC)
-1. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1077 indicated?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

3. Windshield wiper motor check (AS signal):

Windshield wiper motor check (AS signal)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Do the windshield wiper motor test.

Does the wiper motor run and does it pulse normally?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- Replace the windshield wiper motor Service and Repair.

4. Open or shorted wire check (FR_WIPER_AS line):

Open or shorted wire check (FR_WIPER_AS line)
-1. Disconnect the following connectors.

-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Is there continuity?
-YES- Repair a short to ground in the wire.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

5. Fuse check:

Fuse check
-1. Check the following fuse.

Is the fuse OK?
-YES- Go to step 6.
-NO- Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. B46 (30 A) fuse circuit.

6. Open wire check (IG1_FR_WIPER line):

Open wire check (IG1_FR_WIPER line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Remove the windshield wiper intermittent relay.

-3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Is there battery voltage?
-YES- Go to step 7.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

7. Windshield wiper intermittent relay and windshield wiper high/low relay check:

Windshield wiper intermittent relay and windshield wiper high/low relay check
-1. Do the power relay test Testing and Inspection.

Are both relay OK?
-YES- Go to step 8.
-NO- Replace faulty relay.

8. Open wire check (GND line):

Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 9.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G401).

9. Open wire check (FR_WIPER_HI line):

Open wire check (FR_WIPER_HI line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.

-2. Remove the windshield wiper high/low relay.

-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 10.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

10. Open wire check (FR_WIPER_LO line):

Open wire check (FR_WIPER_LO line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 11.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

11. Windshield wiper motor check:

Windshield wiper motor check
-1. Do the windshield wiper motor test Wiper Motor Test.

Does the wiper motor run and does it pulse normally?
-YES- Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box Service and Repair.
-NO- Replace the windshield wiper motor Service and Repair.
