DTC Troubleshooting: B1280

DTC B1280 : Turn Signal Switch Circuit Malfunction

1. Turn signal/hazard warning lights system check 1:

Turn signal/hazard warning lights system check 1
-1. Select LIGHTING from the BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SELECT menu, and enter the DATA LIST.

-2. Check each turn signal switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.





Are both data list values indicated OFF?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Go to step 4.

2. Turn signal/hazard warning lights system check 2:

Turn signal/hazard warning lights system check 2
-1. Operate the turn signal switch to the left, then to the right position.

-2. Check each turn signal switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.





Are both data list values indicated ON?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

3. Shorted wire check (R_TURN_SW to L_TURN_SW line):

Shorted wire check (R_TURN_SW to L_TURN_SW line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connector.





-3. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.









-4. Check each turn signal switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.





Are all data list values correct?
-YES- Replace the combination light switch Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair a short between the wires.

4. Turn signal/hazard warning lights system check 2:

Turn signal/hazard warning lights system check 2
-1. Check each turn signal switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.

Is TURN SIGNAL SWITCH (LEFT) value ON?
-YES- Go to step 6.
-NO- Go to step 5.

5. Shorted wire check (R_TURN_SW line):

Shorted wire check (R_TURN_SW line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connector.





-3. Check turn signal switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.

Is TURN SIGNAL SWITCH (RIGHT) value ON?
-YES- Repair a short to ground in the wire.
-NO- Replace the combination light switch Service and Repair.

6. Shorted wire check (L_TURN_SW line):

Shorted wire check (L_TURN_SW line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connector.





-3. Check turn signal switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.

Is TURN SIGNAL SWITCH (LEFT) value ON?
-YES- Repair a short to ground in the wire.
-NO- Replace the combination light switch Service and Repair.
