DTC Troubleshooting: B1779

DTC B1779 : HandsFreeLink steering wheel switch failure

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Problem verification:

-1. Check for HFL DTCs How To Troubleshoot The HandsFreeLink System.

Is DTC B1779 indicated?
-YES- The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

2. Determine possible failure area (HFL switch, others):

Determine possible failure area (HFL switch, others)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Do the HFL Switch Test Service and Repair.

Is the switch OK?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Replace the HFL switch Service and Repair.

3. Shorted wire check (HFT_NAVI_REMOTE_SW line to power):

Shorted wire check (HFT_NAVI_REMOTE_SW line to power)
-1. Disconnect the following connectors.





-2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.









Is there voltage?
-YES- Repair a short to power in the wire between the HandsFreeLink control unit, the cable reel, and the HFL switch.
-NO- Go to step 4.

4. Open wire check (HFT_NAVI_REMOTE_SW line):

Open wire check (HFT_NAVI_REMOTE_SW line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.









Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 5.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the HandsFreeLink control unit, the cable reel, and the HFL switch.

5. Open wire check (GND line):

Open wire check (GND line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.









Is there continuity?
-YES- Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the HFL switch and body ground (T5).
