DTC Troubleshooting: B2986 - (55)

DTC B2986 or DTC indicator 55 : An Open in the Recirculation Control Motor Circuit

NOTE: When reusing the motor after troubleshooting, reverse the motor using the battery power before reinstalling the motor since the motor is controlled to be fixed at Fresh position when this DTC is stored.

1. Problem verification:

-1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

-3. Do the self-diagnostic with the HDS or the climate control unit How To Troubleshoot The Climate Control System.

-4. Check for DTCs.

Is DTC B2986 or 55 indicated?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Intermittent failure. Check for loose wires or poor connections on the recirculation control motor circuit.

2. Open wire check (RFD-P/FRD-P, S_5V/S5V, SENSOR_COM/SENS-COM lines):

Open wire check (RFD-P/FRD-P, S_5V/S5V, SENSOR_COM/SENS-COM lines)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connectors.





-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 respectively.



































Is there continuity?
-YES- The RFD-P/FRD-P, S_5V/S5V, and SENSOR_COM/SENS-COM wires are OK. Go to step 3.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the recirculation control motor.

3. Recirculation control motor check

-1. Test the recirculation control motor Recirculation Control Motor Test.

Is the recirculation control motor OK?
-YES- Replace the climate control unit . Service and Repair
-NO- Replace the recirculation control motor Recirculation Control Motor Removal and Installation.
