IMA System Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting
NOTE: Do this troubleshooting if no DTCs are set, and the IMA system indicator stays on or never comes on.
1. IMA system check:
IMA system check
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
-3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and select the IMA SYSTEM with the HDS.
Does the HDS communicate with the IMA system?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Go to the symptom troubleshooting HDS Does Not Communicate With The MCM.
2. PGM-FI system check:
PGM-FI system check
-1. Check for PGM-FI system DTCs with the HDS.
Are any Pending or Confirmed DTC indicated?
-YES- Go to the PGM-FI system troubleshooting Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
-NO- Go to step 3.
3. Gauge control module check:
Gauge control module check
-1. Do the gauge self-diagnostic function Testing and Inspection.
Does the IMA indicator flash?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
-NO- Replace the gauge control module (tach) Gauge Control Module (Tach) Removal And Installation.
