Power Distribution Module: Testing and Inspection
Service Information
Relay Control Module Removal, Installation, and Test
Removal
1. Relay Control Module
1. Remove the cover (A).
2. Remove the relay control module (B) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
3. Disconnect the connectors.
Test
1. Relay Control Module - Test
The relay control module is part of the under-hood fuse/relay box, and it contains these relays:
* Auxiliary electric water pump relay
* Power mirror defogger relay
* Lighting relay 1
* Lighting relay 2
* Taillight relay
* Windshield wiper high/low relay
* Windshield wiper intermittent relay
1. Test each relay circuit as shown:
Auxiliary electric water pump relay:
There should be continuity between terminal B4 and B3 (or B10) when battery power is connected to terminal A2 (A4, A10, or A11), and battery ground is connected to terminals B5. There should be no continuity between terminals B4 and B3 (or B10) when power is disconnected.
Power mirror defogger relay:
There should be battery voltage at terminal A12 when battery power is connected to terminal A2 (A4, A10, or A11), and battery ground is connected to terminal A6 (or A15). There should be no voltage at terminal A12 when terminal A6 (or A15) is disconnected.
Lighting relay 1:
There should be battery voltage at terminal B2 when battery power is connected to terminal B7, and battery ground is connected to terminal B9. There should be no voltage at terminal B2 when power is disconnected.
Lighting relay 2:
There should be battery voltage at terminal B6 when battery power is connected to terminal B8, and battery ground is connected to terminal B9. There should be no voltage at terminal B6 when power is disconnected.
Taillight relay:
There should be battery voltage at terminal A2 when battery power is connected to terminal A8, and battery ground is connected to terminal A3. There should be no voltage at terminal A2 when terminal A3 is disconnected.
Windshield wiper high/low relay:
There should be battery voltage at terminal A14 when battery power is connected to terminal A16, and battery ground is connected to terminals A5 and A7. There should be no voltage at terminal A14 when terminal A5 (or A7) is disconnected.
Windshield wiper intermittent relay:
There should be battery voltage at terminal A13 when battery power is connected to terminal A16, and battery ground is connected to terminal A7. There should be no voltage at terminal A13 when terminal A7 is disconnected.
2. If any of these relay circuit fails the test, replace the relay circuit board.
Installation
1. Relay Control Module
1. Connect the connectors.
2. Install the relay control module (A) to the under-hood fuse/relay box.
3. Install the cover (B).
