Service Information

Vehicle Speed Sensor Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Air Cleaner





1. Disconnect the intake air duct (A) from the air cleaner (B).

2. Remove the air cleaner.

2. Intake Air Duct





1. Remove the intake air duct.

3. Shift Cable Disconnection - Transmission Side





1. Remove the air cleaner bracket (A).

2. Remove the lock pin (B) and the control pin (C) from the selector control lever (D).

3. Remove the harness clamp (E).

4. Remove the shift cable (F).

5. Check the shift cable end collar (G) for wear or damage, and replace the shift cable if necessary.

4. Vehicle Speed Sensor





1. Disconnect the connector.

2. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (A).

3. Remove the O-ring (B) from the vehicle speed sensor.

Installation

1. Vehicle Speed Sensor





1. Install a new O-ring (A) on the vehicle speed sensor (B).

2. Install the vehicle speed sensor.

3. Check the connector for corrosion, dirt, or oil, and clean or repair if necessary.

4. Connect the connector.

2. Shift Cable Reconnection - Transmission Side





1. Apply molybdenum grease to the hole in the shift cable end collar (A).

2. Install the shift cable (B).

3. Insert the control pin (C) through the selector control lever hole (D), through the shift cable end collar hole, and into the selector control lever slotted hole in the direction shown. Push the control pin until its flange (E) contacts the selector control lever surface.

4. Insert the lock pin (F) in the direction shown through the control pin hole and out the opening (G) of the selector control lever so that the hooked end (H) of the lock pin locks into the countersunk hole (I) of the control pin.

5. Install the harness clamp (J).

6. Install the air cleaner bracket (K).

3. Intake Air Duct





1. Install the intake air duct.

4. Air Cleaner





1. Install the air cleaner (A).

2. Connect the intake air duct (B) to the air cleaner.
