Charging System Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting

1. PGM-FI system check:

PGM-FI system check
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Check for PGM-FI system DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Pending or Confirmed DTCs indicated?
-YES- Go to the PGM-FI system troubleshooting Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
-NO- Go to step 2.

2. DC-DC converter temperature check:

-1. Check the DC-DC CONVERTER TEMPERATURE in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is 201-257 °F (94-125 °C) indicated?
-YES- Intermittent failure. The charging system indicator will go off when the DC-DC converter temperature decreases.
-NO- Go to step 3.

3. Gauge control module check:

-1. Do the gauge self-diagnostic function Testing and Inspection.

Does the charging system indicator flash?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- Replace the gauge control module (tach) Gauge Control Module (Tach) Removal And Installation.

4. DC-DC converter high voltage terminal visual check:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Remove the IPU cover.

-3. Check the connections at the high voltage terminals (A, B) on the DC-DC converter.





Are the connections OK?
-YES- Replace the DC-DC converter Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair the connections.
