Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Audio remote switch does not work properly

Audio remote switch does not work properly

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Determine possible failure area (audio system, others):

Determine possible failure area (audio system, others)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Check if any MID information appears on the multi-information display unit.

Is there any information displayed?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Go to Multi-information display unit does not work troubleshooting Multi-Information Display Unit Does Not Work.

2. Problem verification:

Problem verification
-1. Turn on the audio unit, and using the audio remote switch buttons, check if the multi-information display operates properly.

Is the display operation OK?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
-NO- The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.

3. Determine possible failure area (B-CAN line, others):

Determine possible failure area (B-CAN line, others)
-1. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function, and use the In Line Diag in the Display Diagnosis Audio System Self-Diagnostic Function.

Does the Display Diagnosis start, and is the audio remote switch connection OK?
-YES- Go to step 9.
-NO- Go to step 4.

4. Determine possible failure area (audio remote switch, others):

Determine possible failure area (audio remote switch, others)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connector.





-3. Do the Audio Remote/Multi-Information Display Switch Test Audio Remote/Multi-Information Display Switch Removal, Installation, and Test.

Is the audio remote/multi-information display switch OK?
-YES- Go to step 5.
-NO- Replace the audio remote/multi-information display switch Audio Remote/Multi-Information Display Switch Removal, Installation, and Test.

5. Shorted wire check (AUDIO_REMOTE_SW line, INFO_SW line):

Shorted wire check (AUDIO_REMOTE_SW line, INFO_SW line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.





-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.














Is there continuity?
-YES- Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch. If the wires are OK, replace the cable reel Service and Repair.
-NO- Go to step 6.

6. Determine possible failure area (INFO_SW line, others):

Determine possible failure area (INFO_SW line, others)
-1. Reconnect the audio remote/multi-information display switch, and measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.














Is the resistance OK?
-YES- Go to step 7.
-NO- Go to step 8.

7. Determine possible failure area (INFO_SW line, multi-information display unit):

Determine possible failure area (INFO_SW line, multi-information display unit)
-1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.














Is the resistance OK?
-YES- Replace the multi-information display unit Multi-Information Display Unit Removal And Installation.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch. If the wires are OK, replace the cable reel Service and Repair.

8. Determine possible failure area (AUDIO_REMOTE_SW line, REMOTE_SW_GND line):

Determine possible failure area (AUDIO_REMOTE_ SW line, REMOTE_SW_ GND line)
-1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.














Is the resistance OK?
-YES- Repair an open in the wire between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch. If the wires are OK, replace the cable reel Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the multi-information display unit and the audio remote switch. If the wires are OK, replace the cable reel Service and Repair.

9. Open wire check (B_CAN-H line, B_CAN-L line):

Open wire check (B_CAN-H line, B_CAN-L line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connectors.





-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.














Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 10.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit.

10. Audio unit check:

Audio unit check
-1. Substitute a known-good multi-information display unit Multi-Information Display Unit Removal And Installation, and recheck.

Does the symptom go away?
-YES- Replace the original multi-information display unit.
-NO- Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal and Installation.
