DTC Troubleshooting: B1028

DTC B1028:

Rear Window Wiper Motor (As) Signal Error

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Operate the rear window wiper for at least 15 seconds, then turn the rear window wiper switch OFF.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1028 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.

5. Check the No. B5 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground on the No. B5 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.

6. Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 4P connector.

7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

8. Turn the rear window wiper switch ON.

9. Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the rear window wiper motor.

10. Turn the rear window wiper switch OFF.

11. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 12.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground (G601).

12. Do the rear window wiper motor test.

Is the rear window wiper motor OK?

YES -

Go to step 13.

NO -

Replace the rear window wiper motor Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.

13. Disconnect passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector H (38P).

14. Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Repair a short to power in the wire between the rear window wiper motor and the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.

NO -

Go to step 15.

15. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire between the rear window wiper motor and passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.

NO -

Go to step 16.

16. Check for continuity between passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector H (38 P) terminal No. 31 and rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 1.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Faulty passenger's MICU; replace the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box Passengers Under-dash Fuse/Relay Box (Passengers MICU) Removal and Installation.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the rear window wiper motor and the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
