Advanced Diagnostics - DTC P1898/P0780: CVT Drive Pulley Pressure Control Valve Stuck ON Or CVT Driven Pulley Pressure Control Valve Stuck OFFGeneral Description
The CVT drive pulley pressure control solenoid valve and the CVT driven pulley pressure control solenoid valve control hydraulic pressure. When the pulley ratio with the vehicle stopped and the throttle closed is low when shifted to D, S, or L, and the pulley ratio when driving is also low, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status
Enable Conditions
Malfunction Threshold
Both conditions must be met.
Judgment of condition B occurs after judgment of condition A happens.
Judgment A
The pulley ratio is 2.2 to 2.7 for at least 0.4 second.
Judgment B
The pulley ratio is 1.8 to 2.7 for at least 5 seconds.
Driving Pattern
1. Start the engine, and warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature reaches 176 °F (80 °C).
2. Shift to D, and keep the brake pedal pressed for 5 seconds.
3. Drive the vehicle and accelerate to 41 - 49 mph (65 - 80 km/h) on a flat road and drive at least 15 seconds at 41 - 49 mph (65 - 80 km/h). (Do not release the accelerator pedal during the test-drive.)
4. Slow down and stop the vehicle, then keep the brake pedal pressed for 5 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Repeat Driving Pattern steps 1 through 4.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
