Bracket Replacement - Front Bumper

Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer toApproved Equipment for Collision Repair Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer toSIR Disabling and Enabling Zones in SIR.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer toBattery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) in Engine Electrical.
3. Remove all related panels and components.
4. Restore as much of the damage as possible to factory specifications. Refer toDimensions - Frame () in Frame and Underbody.




5. Remove the tow hook. Refer toTow Hook Replacement (Tow Hook Replacement) in Frame and Underbody.
6. Note the location and remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer toAnti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair () in Paint and Coatings.





Important: Do not damage the frame when removing factor welds.


7. Locate and remove the factory welds. Note the number, size and location of the welds for installation of the service bumper bracket.




8. Remove the damaged bumper bracket.



Installation Procedure





1. Prepare all attachment surfaces as necessary.




2. Position the service bumper bracket.





Important: Service bumper bracket must be welded in position. Failure to weld the bumper bracket may compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle.


3. Weld the service bumper bracket as necessary in the locations noted from the original bracket.




4. Clean and prepare all welded surfaces.
5. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer toAnti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair () in Paint and Coatings.
6. Paint the repair area. Refer toBasecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems (Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems) in Paint and Coatings.
7. Replace the tow hook. Refer toTow Hook Replacement (Tow Hook Replacement) in Frame and Underbody.
8. Install all related panels and components.
9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer toBattery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) in Engine Electrical.
10. Enable the SIR system. Refer toSIR Disabling and Enabling Zones in SIR.
