Lubricant Replacement - Front Drive Axle
LUBRICANT REPLACEMENT - FRONT DRIVE AXLEREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front differential carrier shield, if equipped.
3. Clean the area around the front axle fill plug and the drain plug.
4. Remove the fill plug (1).
5. Remove the drain plug (2).
6. Drain the fluid from the front axle differential.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the drain plug (2).
Tighten
Tighten the drain plug to 33 N-m (24 lb ft).
2. Fill the front differential with lubricant. Use the proper fluid. Refer to Capacities - Approximate Fluid and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.
3. Install the fill plug (1).
Tighten
Tighten the fill plug to 33 N-m (24 lb ft).
4. Install the front differential carrier shield, if equipped.
5. Lower the vehicle.
