STATIC ON AM BAND

You may receive complaints regarding static on the AM band when the air conditioning condenser fan is running. To correct this condition, it is necessary to install a capacitor to the A/C wiring harness using the following procedure.

1. Disconnect the condenser fan from the A/C wiring harness at the connector.

2. Using the Electro-Tap connectors provided with the capacitor, attach it in parallel to the A/C wiring harness fan leads. It is necessary to use pliers to compress the Electro-Tap connector until a "click" is heard to assure that a positive connection has been made.

Note: Do not connect the capacitor to the motor side of the wiring harness.
3. Inspect the installation and confirm that the capacitor does not interfere with any vehicle components.

4. Reconnect the condenser fan connector and confirm that the fan operates.

5. Check the radio for AM band static with the condenser fan on. If static persists, reinstall the Electro-Tap connector, as a positive connection may not have been made.

6. Wrap the connector in a good quality moisture barrier such as 3M's Scotch Electrical Moisture Sealant #06147 to prevent corrosion in the connectors splice mechanism.
