Subject:
REAR CLUNK NOISE WHEN DRIVING - SHOCK ABSORBER BUSHING CHANGE

When a vehicle is driven over a bump, a clunk noise may be heard from the rear suspension area. This noise could be related to the shock absorber bushing.

To eliminate noise from the shock absorber bushing, its hardness has been increased as shown.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Verify that noise is not caused by a loose spare tire, jack, or some other object in the trunk.

2. Verify that all rear suspension mounting bolts and rear shock absorber mounting bolts are tight.

3. If this does not correct clunk noise, replace both rear shock absorbers.
