Rear Suspension - Squeaking Noise

Rear Suspension Squeaking Noise

A squeaking noise may be heard from the rear suspension on some Excel and Scoupe vehicles while driving on uneven road surfaces. This condition may be corrected by retorquing the rear suspension attachment nuts.

SERVICE PROCEDURE




Retorque the following rear suspension components:

1. Torque rear shock absorber upper mounting nut.

2. Torque rear shock absorber lower mounting bolt.

3. Torque the fixture attaching bolts.

NOTE:
Steps 1 through 3 may be performed while the vehicle frame is supported either on jack stands or a hoist.

4. Torque the fixture bushing mounting nut to specification with the vehicle lowered to the floor (load on bushing).

5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the other side.
