Fuel Pump Hose - Cracked/Leaking

Group: FUEL SYSTEM
Number: 92-30-007
Date: DECEMBER, 1992
Model: ALL

Subject:
LOW FUEL PRESSURE DUE TO CRACKED FUEL PUMP HOSE

Inside the fuel tank a rubber hose serves as the fuel passage between the fuel pump motor and the fuel pump assembly mounting plate. If this hose becomes cracked or develops pinholes, low fuel pressure will result. Maximum fuel pressure may drop to the 20-25 psi range.

Whenever a fuel pump is replaced, be sure to inspect the fuel pump hose for signs of cracking or pinholes.

Low fuel pump pressure may cause:

^ Excessive cranking/hard starting - hot and cold

^ Rough running

^ Hesitation/poor acceleration
