GOODYEAR TIRE TROUBLESHOOTING RECOMMENDATIONS
Goodyear has provided the following information to assist in diagnosing tire related problems. In addition, a list of Goodyear service offices and managers is attached. These people can be contacted whenever necessary to solve a customer's tire problems or difficulties with warranty responsibility.
Balance
The preferred balance method is the two plane off-vehicle dynamic balance (spin balance). Static bubble balancing is not recommended.
If on-car balance is still required to correct a vibration, the weights installed on the wheel when it was balanced off-car should not be removed. Any additional weights required should be added 1/2 to each side of the rim. This method will insure that the side to side balance previously corrected off-car remains correct.
NOTE: Balancer calibration and maintenance is extremely important. Please contact your balancer manufacturer for recommendations in this area.
Any tire related vibration problems that cannot be resolved by balancing should be directed to the nearest Goodyear service facility. Goodyear service facilities have been informed of the proper handling of claims in this area.
Rotation
Tires should be rotated every 6,000 miles. The following rotation patterns are considered acceptable.
If it is desired to use the spare in the rotation process, use one of the patterns shown, but insert the spare in the right rear position, and place the tire that was to go in the right rear position in the trunk as the new spare.
NOTE: Vehicles equipped with alloy wheels should not use the steel rim mounted spare in the rotation pattern.
Tread Wear
Unusual tread wear or accelerated tread wear is usually caused by incorrect tire pressure, vehicle alignment or abusive driving. When checking alignment, the caster, camber, and toe should be checked on the front and toe camber should be checked on the rear.
