CHECKING FLUID LEVEL

Check fluid level with vehicle on level surface, engine idling, and transaxle in Neutral. Fluid level should be between upper and lower lines on dipstick with transaxle fluid temperature between 120-180°F.

CHANGING FLUID

1. Raise and support front of vehicle.
2. Remove drain plug and allow fluid to drain from differential.
3. Loosen oil pan attaching bolts, then tap pan at one corner to loosen and allow fluid to drain.
4. Remove attaching bolts and oil pan.
5. Install new oil filter and torque flange bolts to 4-5 ft. lbs.
6. Install oil pan using new gasket, then torque attaching bolts to 8 ft. lbs.
7. Reinstall drain plug and torque to 22-25 ft. lbs., then lower vehicle.
8. Add approximately 4 quarts of Dexron II type automatic transmission fluid through filler tube.
9. Start engine, allow to idle for approximately 2 minutes, then with parking brake applied, move selector lever into all detent positions.
10. Position selector lever in Neutral, then add fluid to lower mark on dipstick.
11. Allow fluid to reach normal operating temperature, then add fluid as necessary to bring fluid level to between marks on dipstick.
