Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Cooling Unit Exploded View:
EVAPORATOR COOLING UNIT REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Using an approved refrigerant recovery unit, discharge system.
3. Disconnect low pressure suction hose from cooling unit outlet fitting.
4. Disconnect liquid line pipe from cooling unit inlet fitting. Plug all open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of system.
5. Remove grommet from inlet and outlet pipes.
Removing Glove Box And Lower Dash Panel:
6. Remove instrument panel lower cover, then the glove box.
7. Disconnect A/C wire harness from cooling unit.
Cooling Unit Mounting Bolt Location:
8. Remove attaching bolt and nuts (2), then the cooling unit.
EVAPORATOR COOLING UNIT DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove clip between inlet and outlet pipes.
2. Remove the eight clamps securing the case halves.
3. Remove cover from lower case, then thermostat.
4. Remove evaporator from lower case.
