Special care must be taken when installing the center support snap ring used in the KM171-5 and KM176 automatic transmissions. The snap ring end gap must be indexed over the hole for pulse generator A, as shown below. If the snap ring is improperly positioned, it may be displaced when pulse generator A is installed, resulting in poor operation and damage to the transmission.
