Code 22
Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit:
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT
To test the Crankshaft Position/Camshaft (TDC) Sensors, located in the distributor, proceed as follows.
Crank Angle and #1 TDC Test Hook-up:
Crank Angle and #1 TDC Terminal identification:
1. Connect a voltmeter between terminal 1 and 2, and 1 and 3.
Terminal 1: Sensor ground
Terminal 2: Crankshaft Position signal
Terminal 3: TDC signal
2. Measure the output voltage of the terminals while cranking the engine.
Standard Values
Terminal 2...0.2-1.2v (needle fluctuates)
Terminal 3...1.8-2.5v
Crank Angle And #1 TDC Sensor Location:
3. When the voltage is abnormal, check the sensor power and ground circuits. If nothing unusual is found, disassemble and inspect the distributor.
