CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION PROCEDURE

This Technical Service Bulletin describes the operation of the Elantra cruise control system.

To activate the cruise control system, the following procedures should be followed:

1. Press the main cruise control switch located on the instrument panel. The indicator light in the switch will illuminate, indicating that you may now set the cruise control to a desired cruising speed.

2. Accelerate the vehicle to the desired cruising speed.

3. Press the set/coast switch located at the end of the windshield wiper control lever until the audible alarm "beep" is heard. This will indicate that the cruise speed has now been activated and set.

NOTE:
A slight delay of approximately 5 seconds may occur before the cruise control actuator begins throttle control. This may be accompanied by a slight drop in vehicle speed. This slight delay is NOT indicative of malfunction of the cruise control system. If the delay extends for longer than 5 seconds, check the accelerator cable for excessive slack.

Additional technical information concerning the cruise control system may be found in the applicable Elantra Shop Manual.
