DESCRIPTION

This bulletin provides general information concerning the use of sealants.

CAUTION:
Always follow the directions found on the sealant can or tube. Sealants used in Hyundai vehicles are usually classified into three groups according to the table.

NOTE:
Part numbers listed are the sealant manufacturer's.

NOTE

1) In addition to the above-listed sealants, equivalent sealants may be used.

2) White, black and oil sealers must be applied after electro-deposition and before the paint primer coating is applied.

SEALING LOCATIONS

The illustrations are based on the Elantra, but the concepts apply to all models.

1) BODY IN WHITE

The illustrations indicate the location and the name of the sealants which are to be applied on the body in white.

These sealants enhance adhesion between the panels.

2) BODY (PAINTED)

Generally, three kinds of sealants are applied on the painted body.

Black sealer (light grey color) is used on the floor and white sealer is used on the engine compartment and on moving parts such as the door, hood, and trunk lid. Oil sealer is used in areas where the sealing work is difficult to perform. The illustrations indicate the locations and the name of the sealants needed on the painted body.
