Distributor: Description and Operation
DescriptionThe [1][2]ignition control module serves two functions. It serves to distribute spark created at the ignition coil to the correct spark plug in the right sequence. It also houses the camshaft position sensor which senses the TDC point of No.1 cylinder in its compression stroke. These signals are fed to engine control module to be used to determine the sequence of fuel injection. Spark advance is controlled electrically and does not rely on vacuum or centrifugal means.
