REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Remove the two [1][2]ignition control module cap retaining clips and move cap to one side.
3. Disconnect the lead wire connector.
4. Remove the [1][2]ignition control module mounting nut and remove the ignition control module assembly.





DISASSEMBLY

1. Pull off the rotor from the rotor shaft.
2. Remove the cover.
3. Remove coupling lock spring.
4. Place the [1][2]ignition control module on a soft base (wooden block) so that the spring pin can be removed.





5. Remove the coupling lock pin by using pin punch.





6. Remove [1][2]ignition control module shaft.





7. Lift off the plate and unit by removing the three mounting screws.

INSPECTION OF CAP & ROTOR

1. There must be no cracking in the cap.
2. There must be no damage to the cap's electrode or the rotor's electrode.
3. There must be no carbon tracking.
4. Clean away any dirt from the cap and rotor.
5. Repair or replace if a problem is found.

REASSEMBLY

1. After coating the shaft with a small amount of engine oil insert it into the housing.

CAUTION: Do not use solvent or similar products.





2. Insert the disc into the sensor part of the pick up unit and install in alignment with the spacer.

CAUTION: The disc's slits must not be restricted.

INSTALLATION

1. Turn the crankshaft so that No.1 piston cylinder is at top dead center.





2. Install the [1][2]ignition control module to the engine while aligning the shaft slot with ignition control module's installation mark.
