With Multi-Use Tester (MUT)
INSPECTION PROCEDURE USING SCAN TOOLNOTE: When battery voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes cannot be read. Be sure to check the battery for voltage and other conditions before starting the test. Diagnosis memory is erased if the battery or engine control module connector is disconnected. Do not disconnect the battery until the diagnostic trouble codes are completely read.
1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2. Connect the scan tool to the diagnosis connector in the fuse box.
3. Connect the power source terminal of the scan tool to the cigarette lighter socket.
4. Turn ON the ignition switch.
5. Use the scan tool to check the diagnostic trouble codes.
6. Follow the prompts on the scan tool's display to diagnose the problem.
7. Repair the system using the diagnosis charts.
NOTE: When the Ignition key is in the start position, the cigarette lighter power is OFF. It a test needs to be made during cranking, use the battery clamp harness provided.
