Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Description and Operation

The KM-177 transaxle is a fully automatic four speed without a lock-up torque converter.

The transaxle control module receives inputs from the following:

1. Pulse generator "A".
2. Pulse generator "B".
3. Oil temperature sensor.
4. [1][2]Throttle position sensor.
5. Accelerator switch.
6. Transaxle range switch.
7. Kickdown servo switch.

The transaxle control module calculates if a shift change is needed and controls the following outputs:

1. Pressure control solenoid valve.
2. Shift control solenoid valve.
