Heater Core: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Drain coolant from radiator into suitable container.

3. Remove coolant inlet and outlet hoses with vacuum hose from heater unit Fig. 7.
4. Discharge refrigerant from refrigeration system.
5. Remove suction and liquid lines from evaporator.
6. Remove steering wheel and multi-function switch assembly.
7. Remove front and rear console assemblies.
8. Remove left hand side lower crash pad.
9. Remove center fascia panel and disconnect connectors and vacuum connector from heater control assembly.
10. Remove heater control assembly and audio.
11. Remove glove box.
12. Remove four mounting bolts from passenger air bag mounting bracket, if equipped.
13. Remove main crash pad assembly.
14. Disconnect cables from heater unit and thermostatic switch connector from evaporator unit.
15. Disconnect other remnant connectors, if equipped.
16. Remove three evaporator mounting bolts or nuts.
17. Remove evaporator unit.
18. Remove three mounting bolts from heater unit.
19. Remove heater unit.
20. Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum nipple.
21. Remove two mounting bolts from each of vacuum motor.
22. Remove vacuum hose mounting bracket and bolt.
23. Remove vacuum motor and vacuum hose assembly.
24. Disconnect connection at both sides of heater core cover and remove cover and vacuum nipple.
25. Pull out heater core.
26. Remove eight clips which is holding case halves around heater unit.
27. Disassemble heater unit.
28. Unlatch control door latches with a screw driver or equivalent from outside of case and remove control doors from case.
29. Reverse procedure to install noting after installation to ensure air mix lever slides smoothly, full stroke right to left. If not, readjust air mix cable.
