Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation
PURPOSE/OPERATIONAn on-board diagnostic lamp which comes on to notify the driver of any problems in the on-board computer control system. However, when an irregular state returns to normal, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will go out.
Immediately after the ignition switch is turned on, the malfunction indicator lamp is lit for 5 seconds to indicate that the malfunction indicator lamp operates normally.
Following items will be indicated by the MIL
- Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Mass air flow sensor (MAF Sensor)
- Throttle position sensor (TP Sensor)
- Engine coolant temperature Sensor (ECT Sensor)
- Idle speed control actuator (ISC Actuator)
- Fuel injectors
- Engine control module (ECM)
