GENERAL IN FORMATION:
HMA has received a number of inquiries regarding the Methyl Chloroform Warning Labels on current production Accents. The following information should answer any concerns your customer may have regarding these labels.
In the case of Methyl Chloroform, it was selected long ago as a washing solvent used to remove oil and mold release agents from plastic bumper covers prior to painting. It was, and currently is, the most effective method of ensuring thorough cleaning and proper paint adhesion on these components. However, since it has been targeted for reduction under the Clean Air Amendment, HMC has eliminated its use in all but the Accent bumpers due to their material compostion. A materials study is currently underway and HMC has made a commitment to eliminate the use of Methyl Chloroform in 1995.
Hyundai has made aggressive efforts to comply with and exceed every aspect of the Clean Air Act mandated by the EPA, and is proud of our growing reputation for "Green Engineering1. Evidence of this can be seen in many additional areas:

^ Added plastic components labeling to facilitate recycling
^ Eliminated asbestos in friction materials
^ Adopted use of low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paint to reduce factory emissions
^ Extensive research in process for alternative fuel vehicle (i.e.: dual fuel, electrics)
^ Launch of Hyundai Diagnostic Systems (HDS), the first OEM to comply with the Clean Air Amendment
